(ETREYS)


2010 ETREYS Participants

Houston County Electric Cooperative, along with eight other cooperatives in the East Texas area, sponsor a leadership camp called ETREYS (East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar). It is held on the Lon Morris campus in Jacksonville, usually during the second week of July each year. The camp is offered to high school sophomores and juniors with an "A" and "B" average.

Activities start on Monday and go through Thursday. The top eleven students are presented scholarships at an awards banquet Thursday evening.

Speakers from all walks of life including teachers, athletes and professional leaders take part in the daily sessions. Students may take advantage of motivational and leadership skills training along with training on how to apply themselves in everday situtations.

ETREYS 2010 was held June 21 - June 25, 2010.  Applications for ETREYS 2011 will be available in spring 2011.  Students may apply by contacting their high school counselors (listed below) or by downloading the application.  Final decisions regarding participants are made by the cooperative.
