(ETREYS)


2011 ETREYS Participants

Houston County Electric Cooperative, along with eight other cooperatives in the East Texas area, sponsors a leadership camp called ETREYS (East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar). It is held on the Lon Morris campus in Jacksonville, usually during the second week of July each year. The camp is offered to high school sophomores and juniors with an "A" and "B" average.

The 2011 delegates were William Brannen, Ryley Cormack, Karoline Evans, Emily Fambrough, Jessica Ferguson, Steven Hightower, Brandon Ledbetter, Brittany McCoy, Matthew Millican, Heath Parker, Kobly Patton, and Ally White.  Each of these delegates represented your cooperative well at camp with their leadership, talents, and overall citizenship.

HCEC’s scholarship was awarded to Ryley Cormack of Lovelady.  Ms. Cormack was also selected by her peers to return as a youth director next year.

ETREYS 2011 was held June 27th through July 1st.  The top eleven students are presented scholarships at an awards banquet Thursday evening.

Speakers from all walks of life including teachers, athletes and professional leaders take part in the daily sessions. Students may take advantage of motivational and leadership skills training along with training on how to apply themselves in everday situtations.

Applications for ETREYS 2012 will be available in the spring.
