HCEC Scholarship ProgramHouston County Electric Cooperative
These scholarship awards are made possible by the use of unclaimed capital credit funds that have been returned by the State of Texas each year. Using these funds, HCEC has been able to support higher education for the children of cooperative members. The number of scholarships and the amount awarded could vary annually based on the unclaimed capital credit payments for that year. A senior is eligible if his or her parents or legal guardians are active Houston County Electric Cooperative members whose permanent residence receives power from the cooperative. Scholarship awards are given based on community involvement, academic success, leadership, and achievements.
The 2011 college-bound recipients are: Chelsea Bullard of Lovelady, daughter of David and Tracey Bullard; Martin Craig of Midway, son of Marvin and Latreace Craig; Sarah Doyle of Groveton, daughter of David and Pamela Doyle; Kelsey Fahler of Buffalo, daughter of Jeff and Brenda Fahler; Nicole Johnson of Grapeland, daughter of Bryan and Rachael Johnson; Jackson Pruitt of Lovelady, son of Ann and Jerry Pruitt, Jr.; David Roach of Buffalo, son of John and Lynn Roach; Reagan Robertson of Normangee, daughter of Donnie and Clare Robertson; Hannah Word of Centerville, daughter of Dwayne and Teresa Word; and Britney Zabick of Elkhart, granddaughter of Don and Luanne O’Neal. The Board of Directors, General Manager and employees of Houston County Electric Co-op would like to wish the 2011 scholarship recipients the best of luck and much success in their future endeavors.
